First part of class: out come the punching pads! Those pads sure took a beating tonight. Punches, elbows, and shutos, oh my! Lots and lots of repetition tonight, working on muscle memory. Since pads don't get tired, how about some kicks? It was then time to practice on each other. Punch, elbow, shuto...punch, elbow, shuto...punch, elbow, shuto...drilling the techniques, hoping to make them part of our natural movement.
Lastly, we trained knife situational awareness. Using training tantos, everyone got "stabbed." Slow, steady, and relaxed, stepping off and reacting to the stab. Next, the capture . Repeat.
"I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times."
— Bruce Lee
