Did I mention there were also cupcakes??
The majority of class was focused on henka in the Kihon Happo. As our students progress, alternative techniques are slowly introduced. But do we forget our basics? Never! They are the basis for everything we do.
Tonight's class was led by Sandan Dushaun. Sensei Threz, by special invitation, had the opportunity to lead a self-defense seminar at the University of Houston tonight. After an intense warmup, D took the class through uke drills. There can never be enough uke drills. This is something to even work on outside of class. Repetition is key! He then broke the class into pairs to work on specific kyu material. We're not through testing yet for the year, so practice, practice, practice. Sensei arrived toward the end of class, just in time to lay down the hurt. Oof.
